This was taken at my senior prom, May of 1997. I was 17. The guy with me was my boyfriend at the time. The back of the dress was beautiful, and so was my hair, but somehow how it never occurred to me to take pictures of either of them. *sigh* Silly me.

I was an atheist at the time, but not really serious about it. This was during the period of my life where I was coming to grips with my lack of faith, trying to truly articulate what I felt. Not for anyone else, just for myself. I was also under a lot of stress because my relationship was, to put it kindly, rocky. My boyfriend and I broke up a few weeks after this picture was taken, got back together after 3 months or so, later got engaged, and then broke up under very harsh circumstances a year or so later.
